Nothing to say. Nada. Zilch.

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve not been blogging lately. Either way, I guess the best explanation for my absence from the bloggosphere is to just fess up and admit that I’ve run out of things to say.

To get ideas, I spent the last hour or so reading posts from some of my favorite blogs. They’re fresh, funny, interesting, and full of bits of wit and wisdom and insight.

Me?

I got nothing.

No insight into the way of the world.

No ideas about how to live long and prosper.

Not even a wise crack about the presidential debates.

What to do?

Hmmm?

I know … fake it!

I’ve been on a quest.

I put my house (really a townhouse/condo) on the market about three and a half years ago.  I managed to get three offers and even two contracts but, alas, no sales. So, I decided a couple of months ago, finally, to finish unpacking and forget about selling for a few years.

Since that momentous decision, I’ve found all kinds of things I forgot I had. For example, an Oster Food Center that my mom gave me for Christmas about 25 years ago. She borrowed it from me about two months later and returned it about three years after that. Not being a domestic diva, I stuffed the big old box of food fanatic tools in the closet and forgot all about it until last week. Which is when I discovered that some of the pieces had gone astray, got melted, whatever. Anyway, it still works so my quest has been to find replacement parts.

Enter eBay. I can get a new turntable for the mixer part for about ten bucks. (Apparently, that part got too close to a stove at some point.) Not too much to spend to get this combination mixer/blender/chopper back to perfection. After pulling all the bits and pieces out of the box, though, I realized that the chopper bowl is missing.

Can’t help but wonder what happened to that. Is it stuck in some cabinet corner at my mom’s? I doubt it. She’s moved about a gazillion times in the last twenty years so I might as well look for that part on eBay as well.

Not so fast!

Both my sisters got the same gift from Mom that same Christmas. Last night’s chat with baby sis revealed that she has the chopper bowl and never uses it. So, it’s mine for the pick up. She also has the instruction booklet. Yeah! My daughter will be pleased.

You see, that’s what this quest is all about. Becky is really into domesticity. She makes pickles and jams. (Don’t worry. She’ll get over it eventually.) So, the almost vintage food center, once I have all the bits and pieces again, is going to her house. She can chop and mix and blend to her heart’s content.

And last, but not least, the food center can live long and prosper.

Yes, I really am this goofy. 🙂

A week full of blessings!

I started the week on Sunday with my lovely daughter who took me to a birthday brunch then to a movie. She is the sweetest girl on the planet!

Monday brought me a milestone birthday (not tellin’ which one) and lunch with my baby sister. She gave me the coolest gift! Then, it was a quick trip to the Apple store where I gave myself an iPad, followed by a wonderful evening making art with my sister.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday — back to work for this old girl.

Then, Friday comes around and the lovely jensinewall and the effervescent as long as I’m singing each sent me a One Lovely Blog Award.

Gotta’ tell you folks, life just doesn’t get much better. All I need now is about a pound of chocolate and a really good foot massage and I’m all set.

Okay, enough about me, on to the award rules!

This award(s) requires sharing 7 facts about yourself and nominating 15 co-bloggers you love and want to make happy with a well deserved token of gratitude. Here goes …

The facts …

  • I see a turkey neck in my future and I don’t like it!
  • I’ve never been to Spain but I think I’d like it there if, of course, it rains mainly on the plain.
  • I like squash, just about any way you want to cook it.
  • Lightning bugs make me smile.
  • I think that, for many of us, family is a love hate relationship.
  • I’m pretty sure that all the world’s problems could be solved if thinking about them involved a rocking chair or a porch swing.
  • I’m tickled pink that Dallas is back on TV and I already miss Mad Men.

The blogs I nominate for the One Lovely Blog Award …

Whew!

All of the above are lovely blogs and I hope you’ll visit each and every one of them and will enjoy them as much as I do.

So, maybe it is nepotism!

Okay sweet sister, we’re gonna’ have to stop sending each other blogging award nominations or some of the nice folks out there in blog land (I know you’ll agree that the bloggers we’ve encountered so far are all very nice, except for that one, but we won’t talk about that) are going to start kicking up a fuss (not a very nice thing to do, just sayin’) about our relatedness and how us nominating each other has just gone too far and truly isn’t fair to unrelated bloggers.

Anyhoo …

Thank you Preacher’s Wife in the Know for sending me the Reader’s Appreciation Award. It’s always lovely to be recognized by ones peers.

And, now for the rules …

Most blogging awards have a bunch of rules (this one is no exception) and, of course, I always abide by them. The rules for this one are simpler than most (not) so without further ado, they are:

  1. Include the award logo somewhere in your blog. (it’s up there, on the right)
  2. Answer the 10 questions below, for fun if you want to. (see below)
  3. Nominate 10 to 12 blogs you enjoy. Or you pick the number. (also see below)
  4. Pay the love forward: Provide your nominee’s link in your post and comment on their blog to let them know they’ve been included and invited to participate. (did it)
  5. Pay the love back with gratitude and a link to the blogger(s) who nominated you. (up there near the top, higher, keep lookin’, you’ll find it)

More than you ever wanted to know about me …

  • Favorite color: Blue, any shade, except royal blue, not a fan of that one.
  • Favorite animal: The one that’s not trying to sit in my lap, hurling regurgitated dinner at my floor, or missing the litter box. That leaves out my kitties so a dog maybe?
  • Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Milk (what else could it possibly be?)
  • Facebook or Twitter: FB. The twit fest can be so annoying.
  • Favorite pattern: Simplicity, but I like Butterick and McCall’s too.
  • Getting or giving presents: Giving but don’t go thinking it’s because I’m big-hearted. It’s really because I’m so picky, I hardly ever like what anyone ever gives me. There a re a few folks, though, that ace it every time. For example, my daughter and my sisters.
  • Favorite number: Gazillion.
  • Favorite day of the week: Sunday, or maybe Saturday morning. Tuesday is nice but then there’s Friday. You gotta love Friday. Although, some of the nicest things have happened to me on a Thursday or Wednesday. I know for sure that my least favorite day of the week is Monday, but isn’t that pretty much everybody’s least favorite?
  • Favorite flower: Iris, peony, impatiens, rose, hydrangea, lily, buttercup …
  • My passion: My daughter (until I have a grand baby, then all bets are off).

And now, for the nominees …

So, I went a little overboard.

Couldn’t help it.

All of the blogs listed above are written by wonderful people as well as talented writers.  Try them out and you’ll see what I mean.

Enjoy!
