So, maybe it is nepotism!

Okay sweet sister, we’re gonna’ have to stop sending each other blogging award nominations or some of the nice folks out there in blog land (I know you’ll agree that the bloggers we’ve encountered so far are all very nice, except for that one, but we won’t talk about that) are going to start kicking up a fuss (not a very nice thing to do, just sayin’) about our relatedness and how us nominating each other has just gone too far and truly isn’t fair to unrelated bloggers.

Anyhoo …

Thank you Preacher’s Wife in the Know for sending me the Reader’s Appreciation Award. It’s always lovely to be recognized by ones peers.

And, now for the rules …

Most blogging awards have a bunch of rules (this one is no exception) and, of course, I always abide by them. The rules for this one are simpler than most (not) so without further ado, they are:

  1. Include the award logo somewhere in your blog. (it’s up there, on the right)
  2. Answer the 10 questions below, for fun if you want to. (see below)
  3. Nominate 10 to 12 blogs you enjoy. Or you pick the number. (also see below)
  4. Pay the love forward: Provide your nominee’s link in your post and comment on their blog to let them know they’ve been included and invited to participate. (did it)
  5. Pay the love back with gratitude and a link to the blogger(s) who nominated you. (up there near the top, higher, keep lookin’, you’ll find it)

More than you ever wanted to know about me …

  • Favorite color: Blue, any shade, except royal blue, not a fan of that one.
  • Favorite animal: The one that’s not trying to sit in my lap, hurling regurgitated dinner at my floor, or missing the litter box. That leaves out my kitties so a dog maybe?
  • Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Milk (what else could it possibly be?)
  • Facebook or Twitter: FB. The twit fest can be so annoying.
  • Favorite pattern: Simplicity, but I like Butterick and McCall’s too.
  • Getting or giving presents: Giving but don’t go thinking it’s because I’m big-hearted. It’s really because I’m so picky, I hardly ever like what anyone ever gives me. There a re a few folks, though, that ace it every time. For example, my daughter and my sisters.
  • Favorite number: Gazillion.
  • Favorite day of the week: Sunday, or maybe Saturday morning. Tuesday is nice but then there’s Friday. You gotta love Friday. Although, some of the nicest things have happened to me on a Thursday or Wednesday. I know for sure that my least favorite day of the week is Monday, but isn’t that pretty much everybody’s least favorite?
  • Favorite flower: Iris, peony, impatiens, rose, hydrangea, lily, buttercup …
  • My passion: My daughter (until I have a grand baby, then all bets are off).

And now, for the nominees …

So, I went a little overboard.

Couldn’t help it.

All of the blogs listed above are written by wonderful people as well as talented writers.  Try them out and you’ll see what I mean.

Enjoy!

Garden Art …

I’m lucky in that I get to work at home a couple of days a week. One of the nicest things about working at home is the view — my garden. Granted, it’s not the biggest or best looking garden in the world, but it sure beats the heck out a gray office wall.

You see, I live in a condo that’s a townhouse with a small garden area that is mostly my patio with a couple of small flower beds on either side of it that is wedged in between my house and carport. My love of gardens was a gift from my mom and my small garden is precious to me.

The flowers

I supplement the flower beds with containers of flowers scattered all around.

I like my garden. It’s peaceful. It’s sunny during the day and shaded in the evening. It’s homey. It’s mine to do with as I please. (Well, technically, the bank owns a small part of it, but it’s mostly mine.) One of things I like most about my little garden, and gardens in general really, is the art folks place within them.

The art …

We all have our preferences for garden art. Some of us like statues of Greek gods and some like little bunnies.

Me, I like them all. For example, I like vintage plant stands and almost anything done in wrought iron, especially wall art. I like kitties, and bunnies, and turtles, too. I adore my St. Francis statue and my rusted tin cat.

And, peace overwhelms me every time I look at my little cross.

Do you indulge in garden art? I hope so.

I love my flowers, but my garden art adds personality that the flowers alone can’t convey.

If you’d like to see pictures of my garden, click on the pictures tab above, or just click here!

Oh, almost forgot, what’s in your garden? What is it about your garden that makes you smile every time you take a peek at it?

It’s not nepotism!

Does it count if your baby sister gives you a blogging award?

Sure it does!  So, without further ado …

My own sweet preacherswifeintheknow sent me a Kreativ Blogger Award.

She’s such a sweet old girl. (Psst, don’t tell her to her face that she’s old. She’s in denial. It could get messy.)

Okay, enough small talk, let’s get on with the rules for this honorarium …

First and foremost …

THANK YOU — for the award, pwitk!

Second …

7 things about myself:

  1. There have been times when I’ve wondered what it would have been like to have more brothers and less sisters.
  2. I really can’t stand watching reality TV and I wish they’d bring back the Donna Reed Show.
  3. I miss Cary Grant. George Clooney is almost a substitute, but he just doesn’t quite fill the void that Cary left us with.  Same thing re Clark Gable and Clive Owen … close, but no cigar.
  4. I can think of about a gazillion things I’d rather do than clean house … and often do.
  5. I think my daughter is the neatest thing since sliced bread!
  6. I would like to tar and feather the joker who invented plastic clam shell packaging.
  7. As soon as I can think of a good logo design and name for it, I’m gonna’ create my own blogger award to drive everyone nuts with.

Third …

Nominate seven bloggers for the Kreativ Blogger Award:

  1. Girl in the Hat — She writes stuff and not just blog stuff either.
  2. The Middlest Sister — You gotta’ see her paper cutting. It’s fantastic!
  3. Bluebird Blvd. — Check out her 5 minute dance party.
  4. Ziiplight — Great photography!
  5. Second Lunch –  A wonderful cartoonist.
  6. Life in the Boomer Lane — She writes stuff, too!  Good stuff.
  7. Ashley Jillian –  Another great writer! Must be something in the water around here.

Just so you’ll know. I expect wonderously creative things from all of you!

Yes, wonderously is a real word!
